Anastasia Nikolaevna
Grand Princess Anastasia was born June 18, 1901. She was born to Nicholas the second, and Princess Alexandra Feodorovna. Her father, part of the Romanov dynasty, was the last tsar of Russia having ruled for three centuries. Her mother was the Princess of Hesse-Darmstadt. Anastasia had three older sisters: Olga, Tatiana, and Maria. She also had a younger brother Alexei, who was the heir to the throne.
The fall of the Romanov dynasty begins with World War 1. During World War 1, the public was increasingly growing more hostile. In March of 1912, soldiers launched an open rebellion and began to take royal properties. Nicholas the second, renounced his throne, in hopes of preventing a civil war in Russia. This civil war began July 17, 1918, the bolsheviks led by Vladimir Lenin fought to replace imperial rule with new communist regime. The Romanov family was executed the day before.

The Mystery
Questions that arose after the execution of the Romanov family was the fact that two bodies were missing. The heir Alexei, and a daughter of the last tsar were said to be the missing bodies. The daughter that is believed to be missing is Anastasia though some believe it to be Maria. These two children of Nicholas, where said to be survivors of the execution, due to their bodies not being found in the first grave. The first grave was discovered in the 1970's containing 9 bodies, 6 adult and 3 children.
Anna Anderson was a woman who claimed to be Anastasia. In the 1920's she claimed to be the lost Dutchess, but it wasn't until the 1970's that her claim was rejected.
In 2007, the real Anastasia and Alexei were found. They were found in a grave that was close to the first grave discovered. After DNA analysis of this grave, the remains were said to be Anastasia and Alexei. The lost princess was finally found.
