Long ago, there lived a king whose daughters were all beautiful, the youngest was the most beautiful. The King's children went out into the forest, sitting by a cool fountain. One day the youngest was tossing a golden ball into the air and caught it.

One time the golden ball didn't come back down but went into the water. She started crying because she couldn't find the ball. She heard a voice asking her why she weeps. She noticed that the voice came from a frog.  The princess told the frog about the ball and promised the frog she would give him anything.

The frog responded that all he wanted was for the princess was for her to love him, and wanted to be her companion, Eat from her plate, drink from her cup and sleep in her bed.

The princess agreed, thinking that it was silly the frog talked about being a companion to a human being. The frog got the ball for her, but she ran away without him. She had forgotten all about the frog.

The next day, she was eating, when the frog came to the castle knocking on the door. The princess slammed the door and was quite frightened. The king saw this and asked what she was afraid of. She replied that there is a disgusting frog, who wants to  be her companion.

The frog knocked again, and the king forced her to let him in. She let him in and she and the frog were forced to eat from the same plate. She began to cry again, noticing that she was going to have to share a bed with it.

The king grew angry with her, stating she should keep her promised because he helped her. She took him to her room, putting him in the corner. Though the frog then threatened to tell her father, if she didn't let him into her bed.

The princess took him and threw him against the fall, but when he fell down her turned into a prince. He told her that they were married by her father's will.
